Chrissy and Kevin’s Key West Wedding was HOT (as in smokin’ hot and just plain hot)!!! It was a BLAST to take them around Key West and photograph their portraits in a ton of awesome spots. They first got ready at Casa Marina Resort. Their Catholic ceremony was at The Basilica of Saint Mary Star of the Sea. And finally, they headed back to the Casa Marina for their reception.
About the Bride: Chrissy was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and is a die-hard Browns fan. She went to Miami University (Oxford, OH) for undergrad and John Carroll University for Masters. She loves cooking and her dog. She teaches high school Math. She never says no to a dare (according to big sis).
About the Groom: Kevin is from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He loves Xavier University Basketball, Notre Dame Football and Cincinnati Reds Baseball. He went to Xavier University. He loves biking and reading. He knows the most useless information you can think of. He is an investment analyst. He loves doing anything outside.
The Proposal: This story begins where all good stories begin: Costco. After desperately (and unsuccessfully) trying to get Chrissy’s father Cary on the golf course, Kevin discovered Cary was going on his second vacation in a two-week period, which left Kevin with 24 hours to ask for Chrissy’s hand in marriage. On a Sunday afternoon, when Chrissy suggested they go run errands with Cary, Kevin knew he had to get Cary alone. His only window of opportunity occurred standing in front of the sweatshirt stand in Costco. Kevin asked for Chrissy’s hand in marriage to which a surprised Cary replied, “Yes, of course.” Thinking that he would leave with a good deal on a sweatshirt, Cary left with a future son-in-law and a box of K-Cups. Two weeks later, Chrissy and Kevin embarked on a trip to Pittsburgh, where Chrissy thought they were going to visit the Tomaselli’s and some Main Squeeze friends. The couple spent Friday night with Dana, Greg, Dee and Dave. On Saturday morning, the group of six went to a pumpkin patch, where Dana paid Chrissy $20 to climb into a children’s playhouse. Chrissy emerged from the house covered in mud and could not understand why Kevin was so concerned. After borrowing a pair of pants from Dana and cleaning Chrissy up, Chrissy and Kevin went on a haunted trolley ride. During the tour, Kevin told Chrissy he would like to return to Point State Park after the tour to go on a walk. He was planning on proposing in the park, but plans changed when a jacketless Chrissy replied, “No, I’m cold. We can come back tomorrow.” Plan B. While walking along the river at Station Square, Kevin told Chrissy he wanted to take a couple selfies with the Pittsburgh Skyline in the background. With a hint of attitude, Chrissy obliged. Before she knew it, Kevin was on one knee asking her to marry him. She accepted his proposal, and they hopped in a cab to go to dinner. When Chrissy asked Kevin who she should call first, he told her to enjoy the night and make phone calls in the morning. Realizing she hadn’t made this proposal easy on him, Chrissy agreed to Kevin’s request. When they walked into the restaurant, Chrissy recognized her Uncle Bob’s white hair right away and exclaimed, “My people are here!” The newly engaged couple spent the rest of the night celebrating with family and friends, and look forward to continuing the celebration in Key West!
About the couple: They both have dogs, so they love going on walks and letting them play together. Chrissy does the cooking, Kevin does most of the cleaning. Chrissy loves spending money, and Kevin is going to teach her to slow her roll (their words, not ours). Chrissy is always on time (early), and Kevin is ALWAYS late. They pretty much balance each other. They do have SOME things in common: They both hate making plans in advance. They love sleeping in. They love red wine. They love hanging out with family. Also, Kevin’s dog and Chrissy’s sister are both named Dana. This will ALWAYS be funny.
I had to throw in these two hilarious outtake pictures below. The first shows Chrissy in between shots cooling off. The second is of a biker who actually ducked as he rode by (as if he wouldn’t be in the shot, LOL). Key West was extremely busy, of coarse, and all the tourists made it difficult (and time consuming) to get a shot with nobody in the photo, but we pulled it off!
Now let’s PARTY!
