Lake Pavilion, West Palm Beach Wedding
Can you believe that these two love-birds have been together since they were 15? Lauren and Ryan tied the knot at First Presbyterian Church of West Palm Beach then partied the night away at their ocean-inspired reception held at Lake Pavilion in downtown West Palm Beach.
About the Bride: Lauren grew up in Lake Worth, FL with her parents and younger brother. She describes herself as a huge family person (major daddy’s girl) and always loved spending time at the beach, playing in the pool, or just being with friends. Graduated from the University of Florida in Telecommunications / Meteorology. Moved to Wilmington, NC right afterwards to explore her passion and career in broadcasting!
About the Groom: Ryan grew up in Boynton Beach, FL with his parents and younger brother. Lauren describes him as always loving the outdoors, playing baseball or surfing, traveling with his family, and being a “crazy boy.” Ryan graduated from the University of Florida in Business / Finance, then also moved to Wilmington, NC to be with Lauren where he began his career, too!
About the Couple: Ryan was a sophomore. Lauren was a freshman. They both were enrolled in Art Class during period 2 at Park Vista Community High School. It all started when Ryan asked Lauren where the scissors were. They eventually exchanged numbers and began chatting on the phone (no texting yet!) in December of 2006. The two quickly clicked and Ryan officially asked Lauren to be his girlfriend on January 16, 2007.
From high school homecomings and proms, to earning their driver’s licenses together, to plenty of family vacations and spending hours at the beach, the two have become inseparable. Life’s crazy trials and tribulations have only brought “RyLaur” closer.
Many years have passed since the two have been together. They’ve grown up, learned a lot about each other, and many things around them have changed, but their special relationship has always remained strong. Ryan and Lauren couldn’t be any happier to spend the rest of their lives with their best friend!
The Proposal: August 4, 2014: After seven and a half years of dating, Lauren moved up to Wilmington, North Carolina for her first job. The two had conversations about moving in together when Ryan was finished up in Gainesville, Florida for school. Little did Lauren know, Ryan had already talked to her dad and asked for his blessing to pop the question.
Ryan came to visit Lauren in August and they decided to go on a morning beach walk, a typical activity for them. On a rainy Monday, the two drove to Wrightsville Beach for a stroll before breakfast. They walked up to the beautiful Johnnie Mercer’s Pier and underneath was an old-looking, weathered glass bottle tucked in the sand.
“Laur, it’s a message in a bottle! Cool! Let’s read it,” said Ryan. “Oh my gosh, no we can’t read someone’s message! Let’s throw it back out to sea,” exclaimed Lauren. Meanwhile, Ryan was mid-facepalm… Lauren still was clueless.
So, Ryan picked up the bottle and pulled out a note. He read it out loud to Lauren (who was still very, very clueless) and he proceeded to get down on one knee. Lauren (still clueless) couldn’t wait to scream “YES!” but had to let the series of events process. Waiting ever-so loving and patiently, Ryan finally placed the glistening ring on Lauren’s finger.
He jumped up, hugged his new fiancé, and pointed towards a secret photographer hiding in the distance.
